Dezzani Barbera d’Asti Superiore DOCG 2015
I like the subtle fruitiness of this elegant red wine produced from grapes grown in the best vineyards of Asti in Piedmont. The hint of spice marries beautifully with the spice rub on our rolled lamb shoulder and the soft tannins cut through the richness of the lamb fat and creamy skordalia.
Luigi Bosca Moscato d’Asti DOCG 2019
You’d be hard pressed to find a wine that’s sweeter than the lemon syrup in our galaktoboureko, so we’ve opted for a lighter match with Luigi Bosca’s excellent Moscato d’Asti. Its grapeyness is refreshing and the slight fizz handles the richness of the pastry … at just 5% alcohol you can enjoy a second glass too!
Tenuta Sant Anna Pinot Grigio Venezia DOC 2018
The ripe fruit and slightly bitter finish in this excellent Italian pinot grigio marry beautifully with the sweet ripe tomato, creamy Feta and tangy green peppers in our simple Mediterranean Feta, tomato & green pepper bake.
Cà Maiol Fabio Contato Lugana DOC 2015
I love the contrast of this premium Italian wine with our rustic wild weed pie. Fabio Contato is the flagship label of Lombardian winery Cà Maiol and their white wine made from verdicchio (known locally as turbiana) has an aged complexity that marries beautifully with the bitter greens and creamy ricotta.
Tenuta Sant Anna Brut Prosecco DOC
Prosecco is both the name of a grape traditional to north-eastern Italy and the light, creamy sparkling white wine made from it. We’ve added a bottle of one of our favourites, from Tenuta Sant Anna, for you to enjoy as an aperitvo or mix into your Mezzo e Mezzo cocktail.
Mezzo e Mezzo Cocktail Mix (120ml)
Mezzo e Mezzo, a classic cocktail from the 1920s, is back in vogue in Europe and with good reason. Try this bitter blend of Nardini red vermouth and rhubarb-based rabarbaro liqueur on ice, with a splash of soda and lemon twist or … if your taste runs more to something sweet … with Prosecco and a dash of the lemon syrup from our Galaktoboureko recipe.
